Domeland Wilderness

As it's name implies you will find many splendid granite domes as well as unique geologic formations in the Dome Land Wilderness. Elevations in the area range from 3,000 feet to 9,730 feet. Vegetation is mostly mixed conifer and pinyon.With a total acreage of 94,695, has about 45 miles of interesting hiking-horse trails. On the east side trailheads are near Rockhouse Meadow and at the BLM's Long Valley Campground. Access is from Nine Mile Canyon Road - M99, Sherman Pass and Cherry Hill Roads. Leading to the upper Big Meadow Trail to Manter Meadow is a rugged hike. The Lower Big Meadow Trail is more of a moderate hike. You can also reach Manter Meadow by way of the trail from Taylor Meadow, southeast of Big Meadow. Access is available from the north side from Blackrock Sherman Pass Road from the Dark Canyon and Woodpecker trails.
